2014 Pulitzer Seminar: Covering the Overlooked

On Tuesday, November 11, prizewinning journalists discussed how their reporting and commentary exposed the plights of the overlooked and neglected. Topics and participants included:

  • Chris Hamby of The Center for Public Integrity, 2014 Pulitzer winner in investigative reporting for Breathless and Burdened: Dying from black lung, buried by law and medicine
  • David Philipps and Joanna Bean of The Gazette, Colorado Springs, Colo., 2014 Pulitzer in national reporting for Other Than Honorable
  • Stephen Henderson of Detroit Free Press, 2014 Pulitzer winner in commentary for his columns on the financial crisis facing Detroit
  • Sheila Coronel, director, Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism, and dean of academic affairs at The Journalism School, Columbia University, moderated the program.
