Competing Notions for a Common Good Discussion Series

Hosted by Mass Humanities and the M.G. Parker Memorial Library

Competing Notions for a Common Good Discussion Series is supported by a Mass Humanities Common Good Reads grant, which is part of the Pulitzer Prizes Centennial Campfires Initiative. Facilitated by Jill Silos-Rooney, Associate Professor of History at Mass Bay Community College, the series will meet for four 90-minute sessions and will cover texts that ask participants to consider contemporary political rhetoric regarding ethnic and religious groups in larger historical contexts.

Participants will discuss questions related to responsibility and the common good: What do we owe each other as members of the same nation? To what extent do we take responsibility for what happens in the country? The world?
