On Wednesday March 26, 2025, Pulitzer on the Road was in Detroit for a conversation on cultural criticism today.
Pulitzer prize winners and finalists in the Criticism category: Justin Chang, film critic at The New Yorker (winner in 2024 for his film criticism at the Los Angeles Times), Wesley Morris, film and popular culture critic at The New York Times (two-time winner in 2021 and 2012) and Lyndsay C. Green, food and restaurant critic at the Detroit Free Press (finalist 2023).
These critics were in conversation with Pulitzer Board member, Dean of Columbia Journalism School and 2018 finalist for Commentary, Jelani Cobb. Together they discussed writing on film, food, and popular culture, and the evolving role of the critic. We were excited to be working with the team at Detroit's iconic and recently reopened Michigan Central Station for this event.
