Gilbert King on 'Beneath a Ruthless Sun'
Gilbert King is set to speak about his new book at Stetson University at 1:30 P.M. on Nov. 16.
At Stetson University, King will speak on his latest work published last spring, "Beneath a Ruthless Sun: A True Story of Violence, Race, and Justice Lost and Found." This new work focuses on the story of a small town fraught by violence, conspiracy, and tension in the era of integration.
King originally won the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for general non-fiction for his New York Times bestselling work, "Devil in the Grove: Thurgood Marshall, the Groveland Boys, and the Dawn of a New America," which revisted Thurgood Marshall's early case which embroiled him in controversy and cemented his striking legacy. Gilbert has also covered topics like race, civil rights, and the death penalty for publications such as the New York Times and the Atlantic.
