Holding Power Accountable: Investigative Journalism and Democracy

-
Hosted by the Maine Humanities Council and the University of Southern Maine

Investigative journalism enlightens the public by finding and revealing information that government and private institutions may otherwise suppress. By making power transparent, investigative journalism allows the public to see, scrutinize, and make the informed decisions necessary for self-governance. Former New York Times journalist Ralph Blumenthal, who led the paper’s Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, will give a public talk and workshop.
