Pulitzer Perspective: The secrets of award-winning journalism with Paul Tash
Paul C. Tash is the chairman and CEO of the Times Publishing Company. The Tampa Bay Times is Florida’s leading newspaper, and has won 10 Pulitzer Prizes, including the 2014 prize for local reporting. Until 2012, the newspaper was known as the St. Petersburg Times, but changed its name to reflect its growth throughout the Tampa Bay region. Tash will bring his years of experience and unique perspective to the Bob Graham Center on Monday, March 14 at 6 p.m. in the Pugh Hall Ocora. The event is free and open to the public.
Paul Tash started with the Times in 1978 as a local news reporter. He also has been a Tallahassee reporter, the city editor, metropolitan editor, Washington bureau chief and editor of the Times. From 1990-91, Tash was the editor and publisher of Florida Trend, a statewide business magazine owned by Times Publishing.
Tash is chairman of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a school for journalists and media leaders, which owns Times Publishing. He also is past chairman of the Pulitzer Prize board and former board member of the Committee to Protect Journalists. He currently serves on the board of the Associated Press. Tash also is a member of the Florida Council of 100, a group of business leaders.
In 2012, Tash received the Distinguished Alumni Service Award from Indiana University, and he was inducted to the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame the following year.
