Pulitzer Prize winner Carol Guzy to lead EG 2018 Workshop
EG explores our most creative enterprises, by engaging a gifted mix of people — from rising stars to living national treasures, the people who attend EG are among the most industrious and iconoclastic talents of our time.
News photographer for The Washington Post Carol Guzy has won the Pulitzer Prize four times: the only journalist honored with that extraordinary achievement. She was the first woman to receive the Newspaper Photographer of the Year Award in 1990. Originally training to be a nurse, a class in photojournalism changed her mind.
"The nursing program gave me more than a degree. It helped me gain an understanding of human suffering and an incredible sensitivity to it. I know that without this background, my photography would have a totally different edge"
Guzy focuses on the humanitarian impact of conflict, documenting the horror and insanity of it. "Our species does not seem to learn from the past. I suppose my primary role is to open the eyes of readers to the great needs of the innocents involved."
