A Reading With Poet Tracy K. Smith
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Tracy K. Smith will make the final stop of her tour, "American Conversations: Celebrating Poems in Rural Communities," in Cut Off, Louisiana at the South Lafourche Public Library on Dec. 15.
Tracy K. Smith won the Pulitzer in 2012 for her collection Life on Mars, published by Graywolf Press. This collection focuses on the variety of the human experience as seen through an intimate lens of space and the future. She currently teaches creative writing at Princeton University, and recently was named the 22nd Poet Laureate by the United States Library of Congress.
Her 2018 fall tour aims to connect rural communities to poetry and has included stops in Alaska, South Dakota, Maine and finally Louisiana. At the event, she will read work from past anthologies and also from the recently published American Journal: Fifty Poems for Our Time, selected and with an introduction by Smith.
