This project studies Paul Green's In Abraham's Bosom (Drama, 1927) through a staged reading, panel discussion and presentations in two UNC English Department spring classes: Playwriting with Bland Simpson and Southern Literature with Dr. Susan Iron. UNC Center for Dramatic Arts students, directed by UNC Artist in Residence Joseph Megel, will present a stage reading of the play, never before performed in the South. The reading, to take place on April 4, will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Laurence Avery, UNC English Professor Emeritus, Dr. Reginald Hildebrand, UNC History professor, and nationally-recognized playwright Sam-Art-Williams.
