'Sweat' Leads IU Theatre's 2020-21 Season
Linda Pisano, chair of the Department of Theatre, Drama, and Contemporary Dance, reflected on the 2020-21 season's aim to tackle difficult subject matter and mirror the world's continually changing landscape--from an important perspective. "We are featuring five female playwrights on our mainstage season, which is unprecedented in our department's history and signals the representation of more varied voices and perspectives on our stages going forward," Pisano said.
Lynn Nottage's "Sweat" is the first production of the season. Set in Reading, Pennsylvania, this play examines how far community bonds can stretch when economic foundations crumble and the livelihoods of friends working on a factory floor are threatened.
