When governments and wars shut photojournalists out, how can the world still see the truth?

Pulitzer on the Road was excited to be part of this year's IPI World Congress in Vienna, Austria, with a conversation between 2019 International Reporting winner and photojournalist, Nariman El-Mofty, and Enric Martí, Deputy Director of Photography at Associated Press. They spoke with Pulitzer Prize Administrator, Marjorie Miller, on Saturday October 25, 2025.

From Gaza to Ukraine, restrictions on access are rising — yet photographers continue to deliver searing images through innovation, collaboration with local journalists, and tools like drones and satellite imagery. At stake is the public’s ability to witness the realities of conflict. In this special edition of Pulitzer on the Road, award-winning photojournalists reflected on how they overcame barriers to keep these stories in the frame.
