Theatre writers have long shone a light on history’s most pivotal inflection points, holding up a mirror and reflecting lessons back to us. Through words and music, they have created context and articulated experiences we ourselves have failed to find language for. They offer us a path to learn from the past and hope to strive for something better in our future. Their voice leads us to our own.

And today, we need our voices more than ever. Write in the Dark will spotlight the work of playwrights, composers, book writers and lyricists who have captured the impact and energy of history’s most important moments. Since the theatre industry went on extended intermission, DGF has given out $1 million in Emergency Grants to playwrights, composers, lyricsts, and librettists to help with rent payments, utility bills, healthcare costs, child care, and other life necessities.

Join us in support of writers so they can continue to lift up the stories that need to be shared.
