In Stockton, California: Caitlin Dickerson, Anna Wolfe and Nicole Carroll meet college students

Prior to the public event on February 13, 2025 in Stockton, California, 2023 Explanatory Reporting winner Caitlin Dickerson, staff writer at The Atlantic; 2023 Local Reporting winner Anna Wolfe, reporter at Mississippi Today; and Pulitzer Board member and 2018 Explanatory Reporting staff contributor Nicole Carroll, had the chance to meet with community college students at San Joaquin Delta College.

Students from Delta College moderated the discussion, asking the journalists questions such as how they choose their stories, how they got started in their careers, and how they discovered their 'beat' as reporters. The conversation took place in Delta's Dreamers Success Center. 

Students from Delta College's student-run media group, Fierce Mustang Media Group, photographed the event and created the highlights reel of the day's events (click the image above to watch). They also recently launched a community-wide media and information literacy campaign in Stockton: Media Decoded.
