The Art of Rube Goldberg
The Art of Rube Goldberg captures all 72 years of the artist's career with unprecedented clarity. On display at the Queens Museum, this exhibition walks through his work from the development of his style to his Pulitzer-winning political cartoon and beyond. Notable features of the retrospective include never-before-shown drawings, multimedia features, and a unique, viewer-operated machine inspired by Goldberg's famous invention sketches.
Rube Goldberg won the 1948 Prize in Editorial Cartooning for "Peace Today," an illustration of a precariously poised atomic bomb that captured many anxieties of the period. This drawing features prominently in the exhibit alongside Goldberg's extensive catalog of other humerous yet biting works.
Access to this exhibition is included with museum admission. Find more information here.
