We are excited to announce that Pulitzer on the Road will be part of the 2026 AWP Conference & Book Fair in Baltimore, Maryland this March 7, 2026, featuring Pulitzer Board member and 2007 Poetry winner, Natasha Trethewey in conversation with 2025 Memoir finalist, Lucy Sante.
This will be a conversation on memoir and autobiographical writing between two authors known for their work across multiple literary genres: Trethewey is a two-time US Poet Laureate and nonfiction writer, whose acclaimed 2020 memoir, Memorial Drive, was a New York Times Bestseller. Lucy Sante is a renowned cultural critic whose memoir I Heard Her Call My Name was named a Best Book of the Year by multiple media outlets.
At AWP this March, the authors will explore how works rooted in personal experience can connect to larger narratives of race, historical erasure, gender, queerness, and class.
Details on the conference and event are available here. This conversation will be recorded and a video will be made available here afterwards.
The Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) is a nonprofit literary organization whose annual conference is held in a different city each year. This event attracts writers, students, educators, and publishing professionals from around the country. Over 10,000 people attended the 2025 AWP conference in Los Angeles.
