Hosted by Northwestern Pritzker School of Law
Gordon S. Wood

Historian Gordon S. Wood has been selected to deliver the third annual Abraham Lincoln Lecture on Constitutional Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law on Oct. 10.

Wood's presentation, titled, "The Revolutionary Origins of the Civil War," will extend the vast work Wood has done in his career on American history. The presentation is a part of a series hosted by Northwestern to recognize Abraham Lincoln's legal legacy.

Wood originally won the Pulitzer Prize in 1993 for his book "The Radicalism of the American Revolution." He has since published several other books and is currently a professor at Brown University. He was awarded a National Humanities Medal in 2010 by President Obama.

The New York Times has described Wood thusly: "Gordon S. Wood is more than an American historian. He is almost an American institution. Of all the many teachers and writers of history in this republic, few are held in such high esteem."
